And here I had given up all hope for him!!

((oh my god what am I doing hahaha

For those of you who don't know that silly Greek word... <---click there :iconnosebleedonionplz: and then you'll have to explain what you're doing on that wiki page to your parents

If you were thinking Athens and Sparta were Mama G's kids... eh, they aren't... in my headcanon she's younger than them (especially since Greece as a concept wasn't very unified until way way later). They sort of grew up together I guess. XD

My personal opinion is that yes, that sort of thing actually would happen. I mean, just considering all of the mythology about it alone, for one thing. It's only recently been coming to light since for the longest time the Christians and academics liked to pretend it was sort of "metaphorical divine celestial parental love" or whatever. XD I think there were actually sanctions /against/ it sometimes in Spartan society (they hate fun), but I'm not positive on that so don't quote me or anything since other sources will claim "it's essential to a warrior's character". It is definitely true that Spartans would be split up into mentor-student pairs, but any sexual components to those relationships is heavily disputed since... the Spartans... didn't really write crap down... XD I understand that it's a very controversial topic in any case for all city states, but I'm of the opinion that it did happen and was covered up by later scholars... that happens A LOT XD

Oh yeah, and because the Greeks really denounced women as anything other than "baby makers" and all, it seems logical in some ways. XD;; oh god what am I saying ))

(I agree with you on the concept of Sparta and Athens being older than Greece. It sort of follows that the smaller tribes or villages create that distant identity that would eventually create the representation of that identity. (in this case, Sparta, Athens and the others create the distant identity that they are civilized people, that they are Greek people))

(At least the Greeks were nicer about their thoughts on women being simply "baby makers", the Celts were terrified by pregnant women and avoided them like the plague. They assumed that they had no part in the creation of the baby and they believed that logically speaking, if a women is giving life, then she is taking life from somewhere else. Where? From the Otherworld. The only reason then why you die in paradise (Otherworld) and are reborn in this horrible world is because the women have this strange ability to transfer your soul from one world to the other. Thereotically speaking then, the Celtic men saw the pregnant women as murderers. ^^;)
