sorry I just think India is really cool and I DO NOT KNOW ENOUGH ABOUT IT those Harappans man they were so cool you have no idea

I really don't know enough about Greek-Indian relations but I'll tell you what I do know.
For the longest time India was considered to be the very edge of the world to the Greeks. This belief persisted until Alexander the Great came- he thought he could just conquer India and he'd be pretty much finished with that side of the world. He did get pretty far and took over a little bit of India, but his troops were whining and exhausted so they turned back and he died on the way home. :c
Those poor guys with Alexander though, they hadn't seen their families in years. Alex didn't really care, he hated his dad and just wanted to ride off on adventures with his horse Bucephalus and rule the world. He was a funny guy.

So the Macedonians interacted with and knew a bit more about India than the Greeks did, but they still spread a lot of Greek ideas and beliefs. India also would have picked stuff up from living near Hellenized Persia, who was having to pretend to be Greek and hating it. XD;
The Macedonians liked to depict themselves with little elephant scalp hats on their coins as proof of their conquest of India. I think the Romans did too.

SUDDENLY BOOM THE ROMANS COME AND ARE ALL LIKE YO INDIA WHATS UP WHAT YOU MEAN YOU KNOW CHINA WHO'S THAT WHAT YOU MEAN THEY'RE EVEN RICHER THAN YOU ARE OVER THERE MAYBE YOU COULD TOTES HOOK US UP.

The Romans brought Greek traders with them, of course, so India and Greece might have hung out a little bit too. Buddhism was booming in India at the time and a few Greeks really liked the idea. There was a lot of cultural exchange, and people would build Greek temples and Hindu or Buddhist temples side by side! You can also find statues of Buddha that are a little bit influenced by Greek sculpture too. It seemed like a pretty open and friendly relationship, but the Greeks were typically still pretty skeptical of foreign barbarians. XD;

ghlisglsri India is so cool. Sorry I'm just agtfiel

Herodotus wrote about India based on rumours before any of that happened, of course. He talked about giant gold sniffing ants. Today, we think the "ants" he was talking about were marmots that would unearth gold while they were digging their burrows. Apparently the Persian word for marmot was something like "mountain ant", hence the confusion.

Alexander also heard about people with dog heads in India that barked at each other to communicate, which might have been just monkeys.
Rhesus monkeys are so cute look at them.

I NEED TO DO MORE RESEARCH AHTFEIS))
